Where can I find homeschool materials at affordable prices?

I find many reference type books at yard sales. I also get great discounts on books at Borders. Dover has thrift, unabridged versions of the classics. You can type used homeschool books into your browser, and you will come up with many online used book stores.

Is homeschooling expensive?

It can be if you want it to be. I do not spend too much on homeschooling, though I plan years in advance. Most of what I purchase is second hand or purchased on clearance. I also take freebies when they are offered.

I have no problem giving away what we no longer need, except when I do need to actually purchase some things. Then I sell my used items to cover the costs.

Is homeschooling legal in (my state)?

Homeschooling is legal in every state. Contact your states Department of Education for the exact laws in your state, as things are different everywhere.

At what age should I begin homeschooling?

That depends on the laws in your state. In Maine, children do not have to go to school until their 7th year (even though they start when they are 5 or 6), so families can wait until their child is 7, or they can start anytime before that without having to report to the Department of Education until the child turns 7.

How will my child become socialozed?

Your child will be very well adjusted in society as long as she/he is out-and-about and not locked up in the house all the time. Take your children with you when you run errands and go out to eat. take them to the playground, the beach, and anywhere else that people hang out. Do things with them.
